StatSheet's CAA Player of the Week for January 14th goes to Delaware's Devon Saddler. StatSheet's CAA Freshman of the Week is Jarvis Threatt from Delaware.
Saddler was the best in the CAA in scoring (26.0 pts per game). He also had 5.5 rebounds per game and 70% shooting. The Delaware sophomore put these numbers up in wins versus Hofstra and Georgia State.
Saddler led all scoring for the Fightin' Blue Hens with 23 points while adding 5 rebounds in a 69-54 win against Hofstra. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring with 29 points on 71% shooting in a narrow 86-83 win against Georgia State.
This is the first time this season that Devon Saddler has been selected StatSheet CAA Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Jerrelle Benimon, a senior from Towson. Honorable mention goes to North Carolina-Wilmington junior Chris Dixon. Rayshawn Goins was the highest ranking player from James Madison, finishing fifth.
StatSheet CAA Freshman of the Week: Delaware's Jarvis Threatt
Jarvis Threatt averaged 37 minutes of playing time as a starter for Delaware. His average in free throws (7.5 per game) led all CAA freshmen. In the win over Hofstra, Threatt tallied 19 points and 6 steals. Then in the win against Georgia State, he added 18 points and 6 rebounds.
This is a repeat honor for Jarvis Threatt, making it the second time he has won StatSheet CAA Freshman of the Week. Marcus Thornton from William & Mary gets runner-up. R.J. Hunter from Georgia State receives honorable mention. James Madison has yet to win the StatSheet CAA Player of the Week award this season.
